Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
Turned around backwards so the windshield shows
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse
Still, it’s so much clearer
I forgot my shirt at the water’s edge
The moon is low tonight
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
I’m not sure all these people understand
It’s not like years ago,
The fear of getting caught,
Of recklessness and water
They cannot see me naked
These things, they go away,
Replaced by everyday
Nightswimming, remembering that night
September’s coming soon
I’m pining for the moon
And what if there were two
Side by side in orbit
Around the fairest sun?
That bright, tight forever drum
Could not describe nightswimming
You, I thought I knew you
You, I cannot judge
You, I thought you knew me,
This one laughing quietly underneath my breath
Nightswimming
The photograph reflects,
Every streetlight a reminder
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night, deserves a quiet night

as the sun comes up, as the moon
goes down
these heavy notions creep around
it makes me think
long ago I was brought into
this life a little lamb
a little lamb
courageous, stumbling
fearless was my middle name.
but somewhere there I
lost my way
everyone walks the same
expecting me to step
the narrow path they´ve laid
they claim to
walk unafraid
I´ll be clumsy instead
hold my love me or leave me
high.
say “keep within the boundaries if you want
to play”
say “contradictions only makes it harder.”
how can I be
what I want to be?
when all I want to do is strip away
these stilled constraints
and crush this charade
shred this sad masquerade
I don´t need no persuading
I´ll trip, fall, pick myself up and
walk unafraid
I´ll be clumsy instead
hold my love me or leave me
high.
if I have a bag of rocks to carry as I go
I just want to hold my head up high
I don´t care what I have to step over
I´m prepared to look you in the eye
look me in the eye
and if you see familiarity
then celebrate the contradiction
help me when I fall to
walk unafraid
I´ll be clumsy instead
hold my love me or leave me
high.
walk unafraid
I´ll be clumsy instead
hold my love me or leave me high.
Hep Jens! The Passenger fra At My Most Beautiful singlen er rigtig nok MEGET fin!
Hep Jens!
Den nedenfor citerede “Country Feedback” spillede REM i København sidste år – a true classic!
En anden iorden Stipe-tekst er den her:
Sometimes I feel like I can’t even sing
I’m very scared for this world
I’m very scared for me
Eviscerate your memory
Here’s a scene
You’re in the back seat laying down
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine
All you hear is time stand still in travel
And feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesn’t end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The stars are the greatest thing you’ve ever seen
And they’re there for you
For you alone you are the everything
I think about this world a lot and I cry
And I’ve seen the films and the eyes
But I’m in this kitchen
Everything is beautiful
And she is so beautiful
She is so young and old
I look at her and I see the beauty
Of the light of music
The voices talking somewhere in the house
Late spring and you’re drifting off to sleep
With your teeth in your mouth
You are here with me
You are here with me
You have been here and you are everything
Sometimes I feel like I can’t even sing
I’m very scared for this world
I’m very scared for me
Eviscerate your memory
Here’s a scene
You’re in the back seat laying down
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine
All you hear is time stand still in travel
And feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesn’t end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The greatest thing you’ve ever seen
And they’re there for you
For you alone you are the everything
For you alone you are the everything
Hip hip hurra
tillykke til john michael stipe! her er min personlige favorit – også en særdeles ok sang by the way…
This flower is scorched
This film is on
On a maddening loop
These clothes
These clothes don’t fit us right
I’m to blame
It’s all the same
It’s all the same
You come to me with a bone in your hand
You come to me with your hair curled tight
You come to me with positions
You come to me with excuses
Ducked out in a row
You wear me out
You wear me out
We’ve been through fake-a-breakdown
Self hurt
Plastics, collections
Self help, self pain,
Est, psychics, fuck all
I was central
I had control
I lost my head
I need this
I need this
A paper weight, junk garage
Winter rain, a honey pot
Crazy, all the lovers have been tagged
A hotline, a wanted add
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
I need
I need this
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
I need
I need this
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
I need
I, I need this
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
I need this
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
I need this
I, I need this
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
