Det kan godt være han i dag er reduceret til celebrity-shows og fame-business. Men engang, for længe siden, flyttede han de store bjerge. Pyha og en opdatering. Verlaine har snart et instrumental-album på gaden. Richard Hell skriver digte og blev i oktober 2005 interviewet af Steve Jones i hans radioprogram ”Jonesy’s Jukebox” (her et link til interviewet interview up on site). Peter Perretts skæbne er uvis, Thunders, Dee Dee og Lynott er døde af junk, Marriott brændte inde, Joey døde af cancer og Rotten er fyldt 50.
“LCIS” er ret forskellige, musik til Neon Boys-udgaveen af Verlaine, Heartbreakers/Voidoids-udgaven af Hell.

Og før Television spillede Hell, Verlaine og Billy Ficca i 1972-73 sammen i Neon Boys. De indspillede en syv-tommer EP, der først udkom nogle år efter bandets opløsning. Derpå er den først kendte udgave af ”Love Comes In Spurts”, som Hell senere genindspillede til Blank Generation. Dee Dee Ramone var i øvrigt til optagelse som guitarist i Neon Boys. Uden succes….
Ja, for de var begge med i den tidlige første udgave af The Heartbreakers, det junkie-kaos-rocknroll-band Thunders siden flyttede til London i 1976 og som der blev optaget af punk-miljøet. Dee Dee’s egne Ramones har også indspillet “Chinese Rocks”, på Phil Spector-producerde End of the Century fra 1979. Og Richard Hell…..han startede Television med Tom Verlaine, men blev smidt ud. Lavede derefter fremragende ting som Richard Hell & the Voidoids, især på debutpladen Blank Generation. En sen udgave af det band spillede i efteråret 1983 i Saltlageret, København med Sods som support.
Jep. Og Dee Dee Ramone og Richard Hell var hovedmændene bag et andet af Thunders mindeværdige øjeblikke ”Chinese Rocks”.
Yeah, og den er produceret af Joey Ramone – tingene hænger sammen i PunkWorld.

Jeg vil nu nok mene, at der hvor Steve Jones har gjort sig bedst post-Pistols, er på überjunkie-albummet So Alone med Johnny Thunders. Hvor han bl.a. var i fint selskab med Peter Perrett, Steve Marriott og Phil Lynott.
Apropos Rotten, er det stadig med begejstring, at jeg hører hans snerrende vokal på Bodies.

Sex Pistols og Never Mind The Bollocks’s betydning for den moderne rockmusik kan ikke undervurderes. Som musikere var de mere end middelmådige, men som fænomen betød de alt. Der fulgte så meget godt musik deres kølvand, at deres betydning næsten tåler sammenligning med the Fab Four’s. Hvad mon havde gået og lyttet til i dag, hvis det ikke havde være for dem?
