Gay Man Admits He Is The Lead Singer of R.E.M.
For many in the quiet college town of Athens, the bald man with the lampshade hat became reknowned for his weird habits in cafes, his weird clothes as well as his propensity to be holding hands with other men. They called him Michael, the weird, geeky looking guy that often sat in the corner in a bar drinking a Pinot Noir and reading William S. Burroughs and talking in a deep montone voice. Little did they know that this gay man was also very famous. Michael Stipe, an eclectic bald gay man has admitted to being the lead singer for the rock band R.E.M.”I was totally open with the band and my family and my friends and certainly the people I was playing music with. I thought it was pretty obvious,” Stipe said.”“For years I would tell strangers that ‘I’m a warbler’, a comment I made because of my beliefs that I did not want to associate myself with all the different elements of the ‘Lead Singer Community’. “Now I recognize that people have to be very open about their singing helps some kid somewhere out there.”
I had been informed by a couple sources about a week ago about this big announcement. There have been rumors for years flying around about Mr. Stipe’s connection to R.E.M. and finally the news has been received.
It will be interesting to see how the image of R.E.M. will change, especially with R.E.M.’s upcoming record being released on April 1st.
