For de heldigvis mange af os, der trækkes med tomrum, savn og den verden vi kendtes forgængelighed efter David Bowie’s bortgang, er der fremragende nyt i dag til vinyl-offeralteret. For lige før jul blev det på Bowie’s eget website annonceret, at 26. februar ville stå som udgivelsesdag af en 4-LP-boks indeholdende Bowie at the Beeb-2CD’en fra 2001. Som titlen angiver drejer det sig altså her udelukkende om sange indspillet i BBC’s studie i Maida Vale, London til sessionbrug på BBC, det i perioden 1968-72. Engelsk radio har nemlig en tradition med at invitere bands og artister forbi en enkelt dag til indspilning og mix af 4-5 sange i en ruf. Det kommer der ofte mere enkle og rå sangversioner ud af, end dem vi kender fra deres rigtige plader. David Bowie var i de fire nævnte år en hyppigt inviteret gæst; først som solo artist, så i forskellige mindre konstellationer med bl.a. Tony Visconti, og så, på de sidste mange optagelser, med sine the Spiders from Mars. Og det er da specielt disse optagelser med Ziggy Stardust-bandet der i deres rødglødende og tætte enkelthed gør denne vinyludgivelse så fantastisk. Ialfald hvis man som siden her finder Ziggy Stardust-albummet essentielt dejligt og samtidig oplever, at dette band i tightness, enkel tilgang og rocknroll-tændthed er en udsøgt nydelse. Som kan ses på tracklisten herunder gives en masse af sangene fra den periode, men her i endnu mere direkte en-til-en-versioner, hvis anderledes studievinkel giver dem nyt oplevelsesliv. To af sangene her – en af to versioner af ‘Hang On To Yourself’ og så ‘Suffragette City’ – er iøvrigt fast med på vores højhellige countdown-liste i LS de sidste 30 minutter før hvert eneste show – så opløftende er de. Og fra i dag kan de altså tilmed nydes på vinyl. Vi er de heldige.
