Amerikanske Strand of Oaks har med sommerens HEAL lavet et af årets absolut bedre albums. Et af de centrale numre på den grundensomme men atmosfærefyldte plade er de +7 minutter der udgør ‘JM’, frontmand Timothy Showalter’s hyldest til den nu afdøde indie-star Jason Molina (kendt fra Songs Ohia, Mangnolia Electrtric Co, samt i eget navn). Uden at skulle forklare nærmere her, føles det rigtigt at poste netop denne fantastiske sang på Neil Young’s fødselsdag i dag. Hør selv hvorfor…

  1. Stor tak til Pastoren for her pa bloggen at have introduceret mig til Jason Molina for snart 5 ar siden. Det var i forbindelse med Josephine pladen. Min begejstring for Molina’s musik er siden da naermest blevet til en besaettelse og jeg har brugt dage og uger pa at skaffe mig hele hans diskografi: fra Songs Ohia til Magnolia Electric Co over udgivelser i eget navn af bunkevis af samarbejder. For mig er Molina en af de allerstorste og Magnolia Electric Co pladen en milepael i min musikhistorie.

  2. “JM” lyder slet ikke som Jason Molina – ikke at det er en kritik. Nogle her kan måske huske, at jeg for år tilbage havde et album med Magnolia Electric Co. på min liste over albums fra året, der gik.
